We need more info though. Front or rear speakers? What size? What kind of amp is running them?.. Check out our article area and it will probably help alot. If there is stuff on there that you don't understand don't hesitate to ask, but be specific. http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/articles/ av601 on 12/28/2003 15:40:36 hey ttocs sorry my sister got me front and rear speakers fot my bday and christmas there both audiobahn fronts are 6.5 model # as65q and back are 6x9 as69q im not sure what kind of audiobahn amp im i suppose to get too cplkittle on 12/28/2003 15:54:36 I am running as65qs in the back of mine, and with 75w rms, they sound fine. Don't have to go with audiobahn amps if you don't want to. I would look for a good 4 channel amp that pushes 50-75w per channel RMS. That should keep you happy for a long time. ttocs on 12/28/2003 21:14:57 those darn sisters........ You don't necessarily need an amp at first if you don't want. Those speakers will sound better then the stock speakers. You could add an amp and sub first, then another amp if you want. av601 on 12/28/2003 23:20:43 thanks guyz im trying to make my whole system audiobahn hehe. i told my sis to get them, but your right sometimes with the sister thing. lolz now i want to know how to install them into my car. and amp it 2gether. right now, my car lights dims as it is. cause of the subs. thanks again av601 on 12/28/2003 23:20:43 thanks guyz im trying to make my whole system audiobahn hehe. i told my sis to get them, but your right sometimes with the sister thing. lolz now i want to know how to install them into my car. and amp it 2gether. right now, my car lights dims as it is. cause of the subs. thanks again Munchiesyumm on 12/29/2003 02:39:41 If your lights are dimming that means you Need a better battery look into getting a 850CCA battery before you buy anything else! Leaving it like this will destroy your alt which costs a lot more than just a battery!! If your lights are still dimming than you will need a alt upgrade as well as a battery. Try replacing the battery first!!! What amp/subs are you using? Don't add anymore amps until you get this fixed!! It's a 300 - 500 dollar job to get fixed if the alt goes out! av601 on 12/29/2003 11:54:39 i have 2 12 audiobahn 400rms subs runnin on a 1000watt kenwood. dam i c, thanks Munchiesyumm on 12/29/2003 17:20:50 Optima Dry Cell battery!! 110 bucks at Napa Auto Store 850cca will do just fine SMILE cplkittle on 12/29/2003 19:26:18 batteries, definitely need battery. and when you are up to par on electrical, here are some ideas for amps (all audiobahn) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3066732782&category=4950 audiobahn 4 ch 75w rms@ 4ohms $240+25s/h good price even for audiobahn on ebay. or if you have a little more money, and want to go all out... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3066729227&category=39740 Audiobahn dolby digital 5.1 6ch amp ~$600 front 125wx2 center 75w rear 75wx2 sub 1ohm stable @800w 2 seperate power supplies (one for surround, one for sub) 6rca inputs This amp will run your entire system, and sound nice if you decide on a DVD player later on. av601 on 12/30/2003 00:21:04 thanks guys need help with installations i tried to install my front spkers and did not fit i know the fronts are 6.5 and so are the as65q but the size it wont fit on it right any diagrams? erikcooper on 12/30/2003 10:05:31 Guys, I am no where near as experienced as you all are, would a capacitor not suffice instead of a new battery? I wouldn't think the speakers would suck to much and the capacitor ought to take care of the subs. swez on 12/30/2003 11:31:28 In a word...NOPE!!! We have a real debate on that subject here in the library recently and the bottom line is... an 800 CCA battery is equal in storage capacity to ~ 2,000,000 1 Farad caps. That's right... 2 million 1 F caps needed to supply equivalent power of 1 battery. Swez PS Interesting reading... if you can locate that topic erikcooper on 12/30/2003 11:51:48 So what would the standard car battery have in it compared to the 800 CCA? Also, if you add an extra battery for your subs and amp how would it recharge, you hook the alt to it as well? And if so, that means you need a bigger alt for that right? cplkittle on 12/30/2003 17:46:07 most standard car batteries are 550-650cca's A bigger battery is a bigger bank of power, it will recharge when it can (most of the time it won't stay overloaded) A cap is good for a few loud hits, then tries to recharge. That is where the comparison of 2million caps=800cca comes in. erikcooper on 12/30/2003 19:43:32 So when you put a new battery in to power the amp it wouldn't just run the battery down, it would last a long period of time? ttocs on 12/30/2003 21:01:19 Welcome to the forum. there is alot of good knowledge on here that you can pick up in friendly conversation. A cap is a voltage storage devise. It is very good at keeping a +12v charge for an extended period of time. It is NOT good however at supplying current, and amplifiers are current driven devices. Voltage and amperage are two completly different monsters. How can you have an amp that does 10 watts next to an amp that pushes a 1000 watts, when they both use 12 volts? Because the bigger amp draws significantly more current. the cap would be perfect to help the small amp, but the battery is needed for the bigger amp. Caps are the snake oil of the car audio world. A cap will help slightly, but the money would be better spent on a better battery, or a better alternator. I have done some some systems with 4 or more large amps, and never absolutly needed anything more then the battery. On some an alt would have helped, but they are not cheap... Does that help? av601 on 12/30/2003 23:06:07 ehh... guyz lolz thought were talkin about my subject lolz. but anyways found out how to install it but i cant find any adapters and spacers for my car. can any1 know where to buy them? erikcooper on 12/31/2003 00:54:26 Adapters and spacers for the speakers?? Are they different sizes than the factory speakers or do they just not fit? ttocs on 12/31/2003 15:47:45 I have never bought any, I always made them when I needed them. I am not sure what kind you need however as I do not remember making any for that car.. Doesn't it have 6.5"s and 6 x 9"s? Munchiesyumm on 01/1/2004 20:15:35 I checked it online 2001 Honda Accord takes 6.5's in the front and 6x9's in the rear. I don't understand your problem. They will not fit? How so? Screw holes do not match up or what? Please Explain more what you need, than we can help you get your problem solved Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
