Ok..I just purchased some Audiobahn Immortal 15 Inch Woofers...2000 Watt RMS and Peak Wattage of 4000 Watts..Im Curious on what type of enclosure I should use..Because my Last Speakers..Rockford Fosgate HX2...Cracked my Enclosure and I want a strong type of enclosure and some Hitting Bass.....Can Anybody tell me what type of enclosure I need..and What would be some Good Dimensions?? Thanks Replies (5) compvr15s on 12/27/2003 12:20:28 id personally go with a well built sealed enclosure, make sure you have extra supports in the corners. you can go ported and gain 3 db but you then have to have alot more room, and with them subs you will get plenty of bass you wont need the extra 3db. just place wedges every 6 or 8 inches just to ensure no flexing and make sure to use a caulk that will pull the wood tight together and seal well. may need to place screws a little closer together this time. probably 2.5-3.0 cubic feet per sub, will give nice deep bass. wait for others since box building aint my thing. good luck swez on 12/27/2003 12:40:21 What amp(s) are you using (planning to use to power the monsters? With an RMS rating of ~2,000 RMS per sub, need lots of juice (Voltage x Current) to power these puppies. A stock ALT/BAT & wiring will not cut it if you plan to get the most from them !!! If you desire max SPL (duh) from them, the best choice is a Band Pass or Ported enclosure designed specifically for these subs. Yes, these subs are very efficient and will will bark hard with moderate power... (1000 RMS/sub) But you can get more if you go ported or even Band Pass. However, the enclosure sizes for both or very large. Don't even think about a prefab box if max SPL is the goal. Custom enclosure is your best option, made by a Pro box builder if you plan to compete in SPL Comps. Say more about your "dream bass machine" and we can walk you through some options. Swez PS Until you have a definitive goal in mind, don't jump ahead so you will not have to repeat or redo what we may suggest now....Get the full details up front, then proceed with your plans! cplkittle on 12/27/2003 14:38:09 IF you can, give us all of the specs on the subwoofer (t/s parameters) and the amp you have in mind to push these. And we assume these are going into the explorer sport. Also how many did you purchase? As far as enclosures, I would suggest 1"MDF, or 2 layers of 5/8" MDF with good wood glue and silicone. Also, are you any good with wood ie any carpentry experience, cabinetry, or any of this. These are serious subs, and you are going to need a serious box. rap615 on 12/27/2003 15:22:11 well The amp I plan on using..Is one of Audiobahns Monsters in their "High current Amps" Category The A2300HCT...which has 2400 x 1 at 1 Ohm Mono...But obviously can be split up ..I just wanna put all the juice into the subs on 1 channel...The amp is a Monster..But if you Guys have any other Suggestions "amp wise" Im Open to Opinions..
