i recently received my jbl amp which is huge and its also a beuty. before shippend to me it was tested and it puts out 640-RMS at 4ohm bridged to 1 channel. if i bridge this amp and give it a 2ohm load it should put out more power right? the minimal ohm is 2ohm as stated on the jbl manual. i have two sony subs which have been sitting for about a year brand new which are 4 ohm each SVC. i know many of ya don't like sony but i have heard them and i made the installation my self to aqnother car with a jbl bp600.2 and it was blasting.

Finally, JBL is getting into larger full range amps to keep up with the Power Series Class D sub amps... Oh Happy Day! CLAP CLAP

Yes, that's true... but this is a 2 channel mosfet amp and if you bridge it... 4 ohms is the minimum load you can use safely in bridged mode. It is 2 ohms stable in 2 channel mode... but NOT BRIDGED! (it will fry like chicken from Kentucky fried chicken , go protect or pop go some fuses if you try 2 ohms bridged)

Here's the short form specs:

• 150W x 2 into 4 ohms

• 300W x 2 into 2 ohms

• 600W x 1 into 4 ohms bridged

If you wish to run dual subs off this amp, will need 4+4 DVC's wired series/parallel to get a 4 ohm load. Good reason to dump the sony Subs now.... and yes, I agree... Sony subs are not all that for the money they charge. Nothing like a Shiva, Infinity, Alpine , Eclipse and many others. OR... 1 beefy 2+2 DVC sub.

However, if you wish to hang with that amp (good amp) and Sony subs for now, run 1 sub per channel. That's 150 watts RMS + per channel to each sub.... Not bad, but why not get the whole enchilada out of this amp... 600 + watts RMS into a 4 ohm load.

In short, upgrade the subs at some point and you will go... WOW, now we got bass!
