| Any TV repir Jocks in this house?by Swez Front Page * FAQ Forum * Archive Index Prev :: NextAm trying to repair a TV noted below. Any comments from experienced TV Jocks greatly appreciated. BRAND: JVC 27" MODEL: AV-27920 MFG DATE: May 98 Symtoms: The unit turns on, get a short burst of audio, then a relay kicks out and system shuts off. No raster at all. Note some darkening (discoloration) of the PCB in the main power supply section of the board. "HOT" (Horizontal Output Transformer) is intact, but can see a light dusting of whitish powder around the HOT. (not sure if that is just dust or outgassing of HOT) Did touch up a few suspect solder joints (cold joints) but this had no affect. My guess, the HOT or power supply to HOT has failed, but I don't have a high voltage probe tester to confirm that assumption Is this a common issue and what is the recommended fix? Tks, Swez PS This is a single board system. All electronics are mounted on a mother board and the only other circuit board in this unit, is mounted to the Yoke of the CRT. I appreciate that and will have a look see... Swez Swez on 04/26/2003 15:45:57 OK, an up date here... got some tips from a guy off one of the sites and he gave me a few ideas on where to look. Unfortunately, I do not have the proper tools to check some of the items he noted and the payoff is not worth all the effort... so it's going back as is. Let a Pro deal with it. I am learning my limitations.... hehe But thanks for the site tip... it did help alot! Swez |
