Have you tried renting one from auto zone? They advertise that they have all the specialty tools you need, rent them for free, just give them a refundable deposit. erikcooper on 12/24/2003 11:49:05 Yes Autozone should have one. I have rented numerous tools from them that have all worked to satisfaction. kiaman on 12/24/2003 15:10:41 well, i was told this tool removes the window crank, someone on this fourm told me i had to get it. and i dont think ill rent it, im sure its no more than $10 and ill probally need it in the future....how have you removed them with a screwdriver tho? maybe ill try it Old_man_audio on 12/24/2003 19:49:35 Been a while since I had to pull a panel with window cranks, nuts... there was a "C" ? type spring clip that has to be release first. Once the clip is released, the crank handle will then pop right off. The hard part is there is little clearance here to work between the handle and the door panel. This is where that special toolie comes in handy. If you cannot find a cheap one at Auto Zone etc., do you have any friends that do body work and repairs? Maybe they can lend you the tool or do it for you. erikcooper on 12/25/2003 00:04:27 I have always used a screwdriver... kiaman on 12/25/2003 02:30:38 how tho? how can i remove it with a screwdriver? cplkittle on 12/25/2003 12:40:07 all of the ones I have dealt with have either an alan screw or a flat head screw in the handle that holds it onto the splined shaft. Once that screw is removed a little wiggling gets em right off, but these are older cars i am referring to, I don't know exactly how they do it now. Maybe you could call the dealer or an auto body shop and ask them if they have any experience with your vehicle. My kia has power windows, so I am not sure how yours are attached. kiaman on 12/25/2003 14:28:41 you kno....i have never thought to call kia....lol.....serisoully.....thanks snipe523 on 12/26/2003 19:59:04 If your handle uses a C-clip the easiest way to get it off is with a rag. Point the handle straight up, than slide the rag down behind it from the knob side of the handel. Slide the rag back and forth a few times and it pops right off. kiaman on 12/31/2003 17:45:51 hah! took the doors off in 2 mins. installed the CDT's in 3, unhooked the rear deck speakers in 1. total ~15mins as for sounds? i know these are supposed to be rear deck speakers, but damn they sound great, i can now take the volume knob to 45 without distortion (before i could only take it to 30) and btw...it only goes to 50! lol im runnin them off the deck until i figure out what im gonna do about the sub situation. but once again...THANK YOU ALL!!! next week im gonna donate a lil smuttin smuttin. you guys rock! (btw, got the c-clip off with a flat head screw driver in 5 seconds.) Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
