Home theater subwoofer

I just came into possession of my fathers old a/d/s/ MS3 subwoofer. Problem is, he gave it to me because it doesnt work. The standby light on the back of the sub comes on, but when a signal is put on any of its inputs, the sub wont fire anymore.
As I cannot pinpoint the specific problem, and there is not much information about it from google, I guess my question is: "Is it worth trying to fix this thing?"
Thanks for the input even though its slightly offtopic.

MrBrownstone Me Wise Magic
I you take the woofer out of the enclosure, you can test to see if the voice coil is fried or if any of the connections are loose/disconnected.
Can you do that?Reply Posted: 11/4/2009 17:55:15 by: ![]()
swez Old Man Audio
There are 2 main issues at hand to test here.
1. Does the sub coil show a resistance value when measured with an ohmeter? (3.5 - 7 ohms)
2a. If yes, the sub is probably good, but the internal amp needs attention.
2b. If no, the sub coil is probably fried. Test the amp with a known good woofer.
