I have a 1996 Buick LeSabre with power windows. I need to replace the drive motor on the driver's side window. I have the door panel loose but it is held in the middle with screws that are beneath the armrest, secured on the inside. The screws are within the power switch assembly and through L-brackets bolted to the door. How do I get the panel off?

Hum, thought I responded to this one before, but the thread is missing.

Check for a hidden bolt at the rear section of the armrest. There's a red reflector piece that when removed, a hidden bolt that hold the door panel/armrest in place as well. Remove that and the rest of the panel should come off.

Good luck,
Swez

if you could get me a pic of the panel I could help you out better. I am sure I have worked on that car but can't picture it in my head.

Had a 1993 a while back and it's pretty much the same styling as the 96 model.

The trick is that hidden fastener at the rear of the armrest, behind the plastic reflector. It's a bugger to get out, but patience and an extension to your socket wrench kit will get the job done.

Also, removing the factory radio from the dash is a real PITA!!! Most of the plastic trim has to come off to get at the mounting hardware for this 2 din radio. It seems that both driver and passenger panels and bolsters pads needed to be removed to access the wiring harnesses too.

Finally, this car has chronic problems with window motor regulators. This site may be most helpful:

Good luck,
